Rui Zhang

Managing Partner

Rui founded gCC with Hironao at the beginning of 2018 and manages investments and operations.

Prior to founding gCC, Rui worked as the VP of gumi Inc. leading their global investment in gaming, VR/AR, and social networks. In 2013, he co-founded a venture-backed startup in Shanghai and later exited to a public company in China. He also has over 7 years experience in banking and consulting.

Rui earned his MS in Finance and Management from Cranfield University School of Management, and obtained his BS in Economics with a Minor in Computer Science from South China University of Technology.

In his free time, Rui enjoys playing baseball, snowboarding, and playing basketball.

Hironao founded gCC with Rui at the beginning of 2018 and manages investments.

Hironao is a serial entrepreneur: he founded gumi Inc in 2007 and served as the CEO, taking it public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2014. He also founded social media company Candee, VR & Web3 game studio Thirdverse, and Web3 cloud funding platform Financie in addition to starting and operating gumi Ventures (within gumi Inc.) since 2013, making early stage venture investments in gaming, VR/AR, and social networks.

Hironao attended Santa Monica University and Fudhan University in Shanghai.

In his free time, Hironao enjoys reading books, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Miko Matsumura

Miko joined gCC in 2018 and manages investments, working closely with entrepreneurs on go-to-market and fundraising efforts.

Prior to joining gCC, Miko was a serial entrepreneur focused on open source software startups in Silicon Valley. Throughout his 25 year history in entrepreneurship, Miko has focused on marketing and venture capital fundraising. Miko was first attracted to blockchain technology while working at Hazelcast, an open source in-memory database startup with distributed replication and consensus features.

Miko graduated from the University of Michigan where he earned a BS in Psychology and went on to earn a MS in Neuroscience from Yale University focused on computational neural networks. Miko also obtained an MBA from San Francisco State University.

In his free time, Miko enjoys studying philosophy, computer gaming, and spending time with friends and family.

Evans joined gCC in 2024 and manages investments in Asia and portfolio strategy.

Prior to joining gCC, Evans served as Head of Investment at Huobi Ventures, the investment arm of a top centralized exchange. later on, Evans joined a Singapore based venture capital firm called Arcane Group as the general partner and CIO, leading their global investment in consumer crypto.

Evans graduated from Western University where he earned a Bachelor of Accounting & Finance and went on to earn a MSc in Business Analytics from Ivey Business School.

In his free time, Evans enjoys recording music & snowboarding.

Evan joined gCC in 2018 and manages sourcing, executing, and supporting new investments in designing product and token models, finding product market fit, establishing partnerships, and governance.

Prior to joining gCC, Evan worked in investment banking in San Francisco and attended USC where he received a BS in Finance with a Minor in Cinematic Arts. While a student, Evan fell down the crypto rabbit hole after he was exposed to bitcoin as an online poker player.

In his free time, Evan enjoys skiing, attending live sporting events with friends, and traveling.

Daniel Bronheim

Investment Analyst

Daniel joined gCC in 2023 and operates on the investment team, focusing on sourcing, analysis, and due diligence.

Prior to gCC, Daniel worked on the investment and research arm of a centralized crypto exchange, backing early stage startups and facilitating their transition from primary to secondary markets. He began his career in traditional venture capital, supporting entrepreneurs based in emerging markets around the world. Daniel earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Princeton University, where he developed a deep interest in Bitcoin and distributed ledger technology.

In his free time, Daniel enjoys studying economic and scientific history, exploring nature, and spending time with his family and dog.
